Once accepted, the brooch stays with your date. Wiki.gg's trivia notes that after you gift it to a datable NPC, the brooch can be found displayed in their room. It doubles as confirmation that the invitation went through.

How to Get the Star Brooch

You cannot buy or craft this item — it is delivered automatically on festival day. Elsie meets you outside your house first thing in the morning to explain the tradition and ask whether you want to invite a romantic partner to watch the stars. Your answer changes the conversation, but not whether you receive the brooch.

  • Wake up on 28 Summer and speak to Elsie outside your house.
  • Pick "Yes! Please tell me more!" and she will provide the Star Brooch.
  • Pick "I would prefer to watch them alone" and she will point you to the Summit from 8 PM instead.
  • Wiki.gg confirms the brooch is provided even if you plan to attend alone.

IGN frames the scene around your first festival year. Wiki.gg describes the event as annual, with Elsie greeting The Player on every festival morning and providing the brooch each time 待确认. Either way, the item only arrives on 28 Summer itself.

Star Festival Decoration Recipes

The same morning brings a second delivery: a letter from Josephine containing recipes for the festival's decorations. IGN lists the three crafts as the Star Lantern, the Star Viewing Blanket, and the Star Cushion. Wiki.gg groups them as the Star Festival Set, unlocked on 28 Summer. Version 0.12.3 fixed the set after one Star Cushion recipe was locked by mistake.

How to Invite a Date with the Star Brooch

Before the festival begins, approach the villager you want to bring while holding the Star Brooch, and an "Invite To Festival" interaction appears. Offering the brooch is the invitation itself. If they accept, they will tell you to meet them that evening.

The ten standard candidates are Adeline, Balor, Celine, Eiland, Hayden, Juniper, March, Reina, Ryis, and Valen. Acceptance and rejection lines differ depending on whether you are dating the character or are Best Friends, a distinction added in version 0.14.0. A typical acceptance is Adeline's "That sounds great. I'll meet you at 8 pm!" IGN adds that five or six hearts change nothing beyond that threshold.

What Happens If They Decline

A candidate with fewer than four hearts will not accept the brooch. Instead of a flat refusal, they point you to someone closer. Balor answers that "you should probably invite someone you're close with... right?", and March bluntly replies that "you're supposed to give that to someone who likes you." Best Friends get softer lines that wish you fun with your date instead.

Standing someone up also matters. If a candidate accepts but you never attend, they bring it up when you next speak — Balor says he waited but you never showed up. Valen drily remarks that missing a date is "entirely another" matter than missing an appointment.

Watching the Stars with Caldarus or Seridia

Two special candidates outside the standard dating pool can also receive the brooch. Speaking with Caldarus's Statue at 8 PM lets you watch the stars with him and unlocks exclusive dialogue, including his offer to guide you along a secret path through the woods. Seridia accepts too, with her own cutscene. Their scenes were added in versions 0.13.0 and 0.15.0, and both characters call the shared evening a "Starbinding" in follow-up conversations.

You can even enjoy two scenes in one night. Wiki.gg's trivia notes you can talk to Caldarus's Statue first, get his dialogue, and then offer the brooch to a datable NPC instead. That way you get the statue's lines without giving up the date.

Attending the Festival Alone

Going solo is fully supported, and Elsie will point you to the Summit for a good view from 8 PM onwards. Before dark, the villagers gather in the centre of town in small groups, so you can chat with everyone first. When you are ready, interact with your date — if you brought one — and head up to the Summit together.

IGN warns that once you head to the Summit you cannot return to the festival or your farm before the day ends, so plan the rest of your day and finish your chores in advance. Wiki.gg adds that the day always ends once the cutscene finishes, no matter when you attend. IGN also notes villagers' dialogue differs if the Summit is not yet unlocked, an impact still being investigated 待确认.

After the Festival: Reactions and Gifts

The next day, 1 Fall, the whole town has an opinion about your evening. Other Townsfolk comment on you or your guest — Eiland notices Adeline seems distracted, and Olric is relieved that March came home smiling. Your date also gets unique follow-up dialogue over the following days, from sleepy thank-yous to plans for next year.

At higher romance levels, several candidates give you a morning gift afterwards. These presents are a quiet reward for bringing a date. The confirmed ones include:

A few pointers make the festival day go smoothly. It is short and ends abruptly, so preparation matters. Keep these in mind:

  • Finish farming, shipping, and tool prep before 8 PM, since the day ends right after the Summit cutscene.
  • Four hearts is the only stated requirement; extra hearts do not change the interaction, per IGN.
  • Gift the brooch early so you have time to chat around town.
  • Check your date's room afterwards — the brooch is displayed there.

The Shooting Star Festival was added in version 0.12.0. It grew through the 0.12.3 recipe fix, Caldarus's scene in 0.13.0, the dating and Best Friend invite lines in 0.14.0, and Seridia's scene in 0.15.0. Future updates may expand the tradition, so double-check in-game.
