Fields of Mistria Void Pearl Guide: How to Get and Use It
Where to find the void pearl and what it’s used for.
Search keyword: fields of mistria void pearl
Void Pearl is a late-game resource in Fields of Mistria that you catch by fishing small fish shadows inside The Mines, and it only spawns once you have unlocked Void Sight. It is used in several Woodcrafting furniture recipes, two Dragon-Forging recipes, and the Story Quest "Creating the Void Mass," which gates progress deeper into the game. Outside of crafting, Void Pearl can be donated to The Museum's Flora Wing or given away as a gift.
What Is Void Pearl?
Void Pearl is a resource used in many Woodcrafting recipes, and it sits at the heart of the Void content added to Fields of Mistria in update v0.15.0. Outside of crafting, it can be donated to The Museum's Flora Wing, given as a gift, and it is also needed for certain quests. Because its spawn is gated behind Void Sight, most players will not encounter a Void Pearl until deep into The Mines progression. If you donate one to the museum, Terithia will muse: "I saw that Void Pearl over at the museum...Do you think there's a Void Oyster out there somewhere, too?"
How to Get Void Pearl
There is one confirmed way to obtain Void Pearl:
- Caught when fishing small-sized fish shadows in The Mines, on any floor without a seal.
- Requires Void Sight to spawn — without this ability, Void Pearl will not appear at all.
In the overworld, Void Pearl shows up as a small-sized fish shadow, which the wiki describes as "possibly some Void Pearl." Practically, this means you should watch the water on unsealed Mines floors and cast at every small shadow you spot. Since it only spawns with Void Sight active, players who have not reached that story point will not catch one no matter how long they try.
How Void Sight Unlocks Void Pearl Spawns
Void Pearl is one of several Void materials that only exist once you have Void Sight. The Priestess grants you this ability during the Story Quest "Creating the Void Mass," which unlocks after you reach floor 80 of The Mines. From that point on, Void Sight lets you see and harvest Void items throughout the Mines, including Void Pearl from fishing, Void Herb from foraging, and Void Powder from slaying monsters. The same story beat that asks you for 5 Void Pearls is also what makes them catchable in the first place.
Fishing Skills That Help You Farm Void Pearl
Because Void Pearl is caught with the fishing rod, the fishing skill tree directly improves how quickly you can stockpile it. The wiki lists these skills as related to obtaining Void Pearl:
- Lucky Haul: Catching a fish will sometimes drop double the amount.
- Appealing Reeling: Fish become attracted to your Bobber from a greater range.
- Appealing Reeling II: Fish become attracted to your Bobber from an even greater range.
- Catch Of The Day: Catching a fish will sometimes refund the Stamina used.
Lucky Haul is the standout pick for farming, since a doubled catch means twice the Void Pearl from a single cast. Appealing Reeling and Appealing Reeling II cut down the time spent repositioning, because small shadows will notice your Bobber from farther away. Catch Of The Day keeps long fishing sessions sustainable by occasionally refunding the Stamina each catch costs.
Void Pearl Woodcrafting Recipes
Void Pearl appears in four Woodcrafting recipes, most of them tied to the Void and Ruins furniture sets. Each entry lists the full ingredient list, craft time, required Woodcrafting level, and sell price.
- Ruins Floor (Ruins Set, Flooring – Novelty): 10 Void Pearl, 2 Refined Stone, 2 Mistril Ore. Craft time 30m, level 30, sells for 440t.
- Void Storage Chest (Void Set, Functional – Chests & Storage): 25 Voidite, 5 Void Pearl, 5 Void Powder. Craft time 30m, level 38, sells for 880t.
- Void Throne II (Void Set, Miscellaneous): 20 Voidite, 5 Void Pearl. Craft time 20m, level 36, sells for 600t.
- Witch Queen Moon Lamp (Witch Queen Set, Lighting – Floor): 1 Dragon-Forged Core, 1 Shard Mass, 1 Void Pearl. Craft time 30m, level 38, sells for 1,160t.
The Ruins Floor and Witch Queen Moon Lamp recipes come from The Ancient Ruins (requires the Natural Beauty Skill); that furniture can also be found in The Ancient Ruins with the Reclaimer Skill or by feeding Mimics there. The Void Storage Chest and Void Throne II recipes come from the Void Scroll Bundle granted by the Void Crafting skill. The Ruins Floor is the biggest Void Pearl sink, demanding 10 pearls in a single craft, while the Void Storage Chest and Witch Queen Moon Lamp both require level 38 Woodcrafting.
Dragon-Forging Recipes That Use Void Pearl
Void Pearl is also an ingredient in two Dragon-Forging recipes, and this section contains mild story spoilers. Both items take 50 minutes to craft and require Mastery 30.
- Dragon-Forged Sword: a sword imbued with darkness that has a low insta-kill chance. Ingredients: 5 Void Herb, 5 Void Pearl, 5 Void Powder, 5 Void Stone, 50 Voidite. Sells for 0t.
- Dragon-Forged Horn: a dragon-forged horn imbued with darkness. Ingredients: 5 Monster Horn, 5 Void Powder, 5 Void Pearl, 1 Void Snail, 1 Medium Essence Stone. Sells for 680t.
The Dragon-Forged Sword is notable because it sells for 0t, marking it as a personal weapon rather than a money-maker. The Dragon-Forged Horn, by contrast, sells for a respectable 680t. Both recipes demand 5 Void Pearl apiece, so stock up before you commit to crafting either one.
Creating the Void Mass: The Quest That Needs 5 Void Pearls
Void Pearl is required to complete the Story Quest "Creating the Void Mass," which the player unlocks after reaching floor 80 of The Mines. The Priestess tells you to gather materials for a Void Mass that will let you safely open the Ruins Seal, and you must offer the items to the Cauldron in the Void Seal room. Completing the quest unlocks the next story step, "Breaking The Ruins Seal."
- 5 Void Stone — mined from Void Stone Nodes
- 5 Void Powder — from slaying any monsters (requires Void Sight)
- 5 Void Herb — from foraging (requires Void Sight)
- 5 Void Pearl — from fishing (requires Void Sight)
In the quest's story, the Priestess transforms your Void Mass into a Void [Player] decoy, a shadow that cannot think or feel and only moves at your instruction. You use the decoy to take a rubbing of the Ruins Seal Tablet safely, since the Priestess warns this seal may be trapped. The tablet's translation then calls for a Breath of Flame, a Smoke Moth, a Firesail Fish, and a piece of Obsidian, which must be given to the Void [Player] rather than offered to the tablet directly.
Tips for Farming Void Pearl Efficiently
- Target small shadows: Void Pearl appears as a small-sized fish shadow, so focus your casts there.
- Stick to unsealed floors: it can be caught on any floor of The Mines without a seal.
- Grab Lucky Haul: doubled catches sometimes mean double the pearls per cast.
- Pair it with Catch Of The Day: refunded Stamina keeps long Mines fishing trips going.
- Multitask your gathering: Void Stone, Void Powder, and Void Herb come from the same Void Sight unlock and are needed in equal 5-piece quantities.
